What the critics say:

  • ‘Nuno Mendes has created a slice of deeply personal Portugal with this wild and educational new ride’ - Grace Dent for the Guardian in 2022.

  • ‘I’ve changed my mind. Portuguese food, as everyone knows, is the best food in the world’ - Giles Coren for the Times in 2022.

  • ’It is also an inordinately sexy restaurant’ - Jimi Famurewa for the Independent in 2022.

What Eric Mustard says: I thought I knew Portuguese food. Not inside out but well enough for it not to sneak up on me and make me jump. There is a lot that’s familiar at Lisboeta but there is also so much on offer that’s such a wonderful surprise. Acorn fed black pork dominates the menu with some dishes ready to rival your favourite steakhouse. Pots and platters placed on the table bring that warm homely feel, often full of something rich and tomatoey. Pair that with their passionate and knowledgeable but also young and enthusiastic staff and you have a restaurant that has slotted in seamlessly and stylishly on Charlotte Street.

Top tip: The specials are rustled up fresh and served from lunch which means they might not be around by evening service. We are talking pastel de natas and bifanas, so lunch reservations are well worth it.
