What Eric Mustard says: If you don’t have a sweet tooth, I would suggest that you look away now. Breakfast at Cédric Grolet is like starting your day at a high-end sweet shop. The Prince of Patisserie is the best in the business and could claim to be the inspiration for the infamous ‘is it cake era’ such is the spectacle of his designs. In keeping with his kitchen, he serves up immaculate-looking miniature cakes, along with indulgent waffle flowers and the most perfectly caramelised slices of French toast. Fast forward a few hours to ‘Goûtea’, a fusion of French patisseries and British afternoon tea, where you can appreciate the same levels of sugar whilst enjoying a glass of champagne as is fitting for this type of venue or of course some coffee or tea. It doesn’t come cheap but when does anything come cheap in Knightsbridge or at The Berkeley for that matter? You will leave feeling pumped full of energy and with a spring in your step. At least for a few hours anyway.
